Whitechapel: The New Sound Of Death Metal

Whitechapel are named after the London district made famous by the serial killer "Jack The Ripper" who brutally murdered several prostitutes there. They are a Knoxville based band, whose style can be best described as a mix of Impaled, Aborted and Devourment.

Whitechapel was formed in the February of 2006 by Phil Bozeman, Brandon Cagle and Ben Savage. Shortly after the idea of the band was formed, Alex Wade, Gabe Crisp and Derek Martin were added to the Line-Up. Throughout March, 2006, they wrote what would eventually become their six-song demo, which was subsequently released on the band's site at MySpace.

The moment these tracks were released,an enormous amount of buzz about the band spread through out the US and eventually, overseas, to Europe.
Eversince, they have been turning heads, whether by word of mouth, online or by their devastating live show.

Their apocalyptical, crushing sound caught the attention of Jamie Graham, owner of Siege of Amida Records, and in November 2006, Whitechapel inked a deal with the label for distribution in the UK. They also made a deal with Candlelight Records for distribution in the US.

November also saw the addition of a new member to the line-up: Kevin Lane. Kevin Lane brought a new realm of professionalism and technicality to the sound, and Whitechapel became an entirely new band. Amongst the new Death Metal bands, Whitechapel is reported to have the best and the strongest line-up.

The band has just released their debut album, The Somatic Defilement, and is on tour to support it.
