Danzig: Lost Tracks of Danzig
At last, after a couple of setbacks, The Lost Tracks Of Danzig has been set free to the fans around the world on a 2CD set. Featuring unreleased tracks from Danzig’s self titled band, the collection spans from their first album from 1987, Danzig, all the way through 2004’s Circle Of Snakes. The songs were not necessarily cut from any of the albums according to Danzig; they just did not fit in at the time. In all, there are 26 theoretically brand new songs on this album that has been released under Evilive Records.
The Lost Tracks of Danzig is a compilation album by American heavy metal band Danzig. The set showcases a number of previously-unreleased Danzig songs. After years of frontman Glenn Danzig discussing plans for the album, it was finally confirmed to be under preparation in the summer of 2006. Originally scheduled for release on May 29, 2007, it was delayed twice before its official release in North America on July 10, 2007,and in Europe one week earlier. The set was made available over iTunes in June 2007
Danzig has said that he does not consider these songs throwaways, but that often the case was that the songs didn't fit the theme or concept of the album. "The songs that make it onto the final album 'fit' or 'flow' together as a whole. Consequently, some tremendous Danzig songs have never been released, not because they weren't great, but because they didn't fit the overall vibe of the particular album, or for other reasons."
"Lost Tracks Of Danzig’ is old stuff that dates right back to the first Danzig album [1988’s "Danzig"] right through to now. I was only able to start work on this album when the court case was finally sorted out. When I left American Recordings in 1994, Rick Rubin sued me and I sued him. I ended up winning all my unreleased material back. Anything he never released, including any live shows we recorded that he never put out, I won back and own. There was some stuff that he has yet to turn over because he can’t find them—well, he says that he can’t find them—but I have most of the recordings. He still has the rights to the albums that were released through his label, but we’re trying to get them back now because he hasn’t been accounting back to us properly. So we’re trying to get those back from him. But that’s a whole other story."
Starting off the collection is “Pain Is Like An Animal.” I do not understand why it took so long to release this song. It is Danzig all the way from the singing to the background vocals and is one of my favorites in the entire collection. I can even hear a little bit of the Misfits style on it.
On the other hand, “When Death Had No Name (1st Version)” was just not keeping my attention. A couple tracks later though is the 1992 version of “When Death Had No Name” and my opinion of the song changed completely. The ’92 version is amazing and may be one of the best tracks on this collection.
The acoustic “Come To Silver” was actually written for Johnny Cash and the song sinks into your mind with ease.
The Germ’s cover “Caught In My Eye” was interesting. I much prefer the original of course, but this isn't exactly the rape of a classic.
The cover of David Bowie’s “Cat People,” though, was just awesome.
Closing track “Unspeakable (Shango Mix)” was just different. The song is a remix, and somehow, I didn't like it all that much.
The 2CD set is full of Danzig's good, to decent to okay songs but any Danzig fan out there will be able to find quite a few tracks on The Lost Tracks Of Danzig that they will love.

Best Heavy Metal Releases: July 2007
1. Municipal Waste - The Art Of Partying (Earache)
The Art Of Partying is a massive blast of crossover thrash. Municipal Waste has a great sense of humor and that's reflected in song titles like "The Inebriator," "Beer Pressure" and "Lunch Hall Food Brawl." But just because they have an irreverent attitude and sing about drinking and partying doesn't mean their musicianship is as juvenile as some of their song subjects.
To the contrary, Municipal Waste delivers razor sharp riffs and songs that are very catchy and memorable. Most of the songs on The Art Of Partying careen at lightning speed with blazing guitars and frenzied drums. The controlled chaos periodically eases back into a mid-tempo groove before winding up and blasting off again.
2. Behemoth - The Apostasy (Century Media)
The Apostasy is a crushing album that also has fantastic musicianship. Behemoth also infuses some Middle Eastern influences into a few of the songs, which adds an interesting flavor. Inferno's drumming is really good, and whether he's playing blast beats at lightning speed or keeping a monster groove on the slower songs, his playing is flawless. The songs on this album are really catchy, and the main reason is that are so many different clever riffs packed into each track. Nergal has some interesting solos, but the riffs are what are really memorable.
3. DevilDriver - The Last Kind Words (Roadrunner)
The songs on The Last Kind Words are brutal and intense, but with much more depth and intricacy. Guitarists Mike Spreitzer and Jeff Kendrick rise to the occasion with monster riffs, nifty solos, and outstanding teamwork and interplay. Undercurrents of melody ebb and flow over and around the extremity, making the songs even more memorable.
The production is also really good. Jason Suecof (Trivium, God Forbid, Chimaira) produced, while Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage) mixed and mastered. They capture all the fury and passion of DevilDriver's sound and refine it without sanitizing it. The last kind words of this review are "without question, this is DevilDriver's best album so far."
4. Entombed - Serpent Saints: The Ten Amendments (Candlelight)
Serpent Saints: The Ten Amendments is the band's first full-length album in about four years, and it's a good one. The songs are gritty and aggressive, but catchy as hell. It gets off to a rousing start with the title track, which is very memorable. "When In Sodom," the title track from last year's EP makes an appearance as well. From fast paced death and roll to slower, doomy dirges, Entombed hits on all cylinders.
L.G. Petrov's distinctive voice is in good form whether he's growling or singing gurgly melodic vocals. Serpent Saints: The Ten Amendments takes a basic, straightforward approach, which really plays to Entombed's strengths and makes for an album that is the best they've done in a long time.
5. Within Temptation - The Heart Of Everything (Roadrunner)
The Heart Of Everything is a strong album, and an appealing blend of gothic and symphonic metal. The songs are dynamic and bombastic with metal guitars winding around and through epic orchestral arrangements. They have the optimum balance of the melody and hooks of mainstream rock, the depth and complexity of classical music and the dark edge of gothic metal.
Sharon den Adel is Within Temptation's vocalist, and she's a powerhouse. She has a great tone and delivery, and shows a lot of versatility on this album. She showcases an angelic soprano, a powerful and expressive middle range, and even displays some attitude and edge. There's also a duet with Life Of Agony's Keith Caputo.

Review: Whitechapel-The Somatic Defilement
Necrotizing
The 35 second intro is a series of industrial sludge and sound clips with some brief drumming in the background.
The Somatic Defilement
The title track is opened with a series hellish, guttural growls that are pretty well extended. Double bass and down tuned riffing fills your skull. Vocalist Phil Bozeman lower end vocal delivery is deep and evil. He accompanies them with higher pitched screams completing an impressive range. The sound of this first song is immense — having three guitarist certainly helps in that cause.
Devirgination Studies
Not much of a name for a song, but the sound is nice- the orchestral end of “The Somatic Defilement” leads into chugging grind core fueled riffs as the vocals shred.
Prostatic Fluid Asphyxiation
Mmm… choking to death on ass juice. You’ve got to love the song titles on this album. They’re completely vile yet, laughably cheesy. I can’t get enough of them. “Prostatic Fluid Asphyxiation” is complex and dark. There are some nice guitar leads similar to recent Cannibal Corpse backed by very active drumming. The start/stop vocals during silence are a nice touch.
Fairy Fay
The beginning of this track is great. Shrill guitar tones accompany a higher pitched vocal delivery. This one’s actually got a pretty nice groove to it.
Ear To Ear
This song is a good bit slower paced than the previous tracks. It’s oozes evil. Thick pounding drums dominate “Ear to Ear” mixed with blasts from the 3 guitarists.
Alone In The Morgue
I can only imagine what these guys would get into if they were left all alone in the county morgue. Like “Ear to Ear”, this track is also a bit slower paced, but it does have moments of chaotic bursts to punctuate the vocals. There’s a hefty breakdown right before the song ends.
Festering Fiesta
“Festering Fiesta” is like the plodding pace of a madman stalking you in the dark. It’s chugging mosh is unrelenting and highlighted by a few short guitar leads as if the madman has suddenly come up with another idea for your skin.
Vicer Exciser
We’re back to the quicker paced material now. “Vicer Exciser” reminds me a little of old school Autopsy mixed with some Deicide. It’s a nice bit of work.
Articulo Mortis
The words “Articulo Mortis” actually refer to the exact point of death. It’s appropriate that the band end with this one. The album is over and at this point of your torturous defilement, you’d probably be dead. It’s a nice play, on words as well as one hell of a destructive track.
Whitechapel’s debut is pretty god damned good. The three guitar onslaught is enough to send any sane mortal to a mental institution. The vocals are brutal, showcasing an impressive range of real low guttural insanity to higher pitched torturous screams. I highly recommend playing this album real loud at your next family reunion.

Whitechapel: The New Sound Of Death Metal
Whitechapel are named after the London district made famous by the serial killer "Jack The Ripper" who brutally murdered several prostitutes there. They are a Knoxville based band, whose style can be best described as a mix of Impaled, Aborted and Devourment.
Whitechapel was formed in the February of 2006 by Phil Bozeman, Brandon Cagle and Ben Savage. Shortly after the idea of the band was formed, Alex Wade, Gabe Crisp and Derek Martin were added to the Line-Up. Throughout March, 2006, they wrote what would eventually become their six-song demo, which was subsequently released on the band's site at MySpace.
The moment these tracks were released,an enormous amount of buzz about the band spread through out the US and eventually, overseas, to Europe.
Eversince, they have been turning heads, whether by word of mouth, online or by their devastating live show.
Their apocalyptical, crushing sound caught the attention of Jamie Graham, owner of Siege of Amida Records, and in November 2006, Whitechapel inked a deal with the label for distribution in the UK. They also made a deal with Candlelight Records for distribution in the US.
November also saw the addition of a new member to the line-up: Kevin Lane. Kevin Lane brought a new realm of professionalism and technicality to the sound, and Whitechapel became an entirely new band. Amongst the new Death Metal bands, Whitechapel is reported to have the best and the strongest line-up.
The band has just released their debut album, The Somatic Defilement, and is on tour to support it.

All Your Base Are Belong To US
This is crazy- I never thought I'd ever get my lazy ass up in record time to start off this blog so soon, and that too, while listening to John denver bawling out "Starwood in Aspen".
Anyway, the blog is fully functional now. As mentioned earlier, there is a section for Downloading music ('Currently Seeding' links), one for posting your requests (The big blue link which reads "Click HERE to post your request"), a section for navigating the site (Labels).
Also present is the "Useful Links" section, whose usefulness I'm beginning to doubt. Nevertheless, it does give you a link to download Azureus, which I RECOMMEND HIGHLY. I've tried most P2P clients, and I've never seen anything like this.
Of course, the link to my other blog is there for purely narcisissitic reasons: I want you people to read what I randomly come up with in time to time.
That's it, more or less. you can feel free to post any comments that you think may help in making this better, and I can always ignore them.
Yes, I CAN ignore them :)

Coven: The Inspiration for Black Sabbath?
The debut LP from the group Coven is noteworthy for reasons more historical than musical. That is not to say it is a bad record; it is more of an interesting record that is unique and listenable. With an elaborate package released on
Mercury in 1969, a good trivia question can be made of the fact that bassist Oz Osborne performs on this album, whose opening track is "Black Sabbath," while John "Ozzy" Osbourne of Black Sabbath was allegedly busy playing bass in Magic Lanterns, hitting the Top 30 in 1968 with "Shame, Shame" (Ozzy listed as Mike Osbourne with Magic Lanterns! ).
That the group Black Sabbath formed in 1969 when this album was issued seems to indicate that Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls may have had more than a little influence on the more popular heavy metal band. Also notable is the fact that the majority of the songwriting on this disc is by guitarist Jim Donlinger, who a year later in 1970 would move on to drummer Michael Tegza's reincarnation of H.P. Lovecraft, known simply as Lovecraft on its
Reprise recording.
Jinx Dawson's vocals are distinctive, and tunes like "White Witch of Rose Hall" and "Wicked Woman" are almost on target. The band was for real, eventually hitting the Top 30 around Halloween in 1971 with "One Tin Soldier (The Legend of Billy Jack)" from the movie Billy Jack. With the "evil" prayers during "Coven in Charing Cross," Coven get a bit heavy-handed; the group goes over the top trying to push the black magic stuff. "Pact With the Devil" is written "Pack With the Devil" on the label, and the 13-plus minute "Satanic Mass" is more of a curiosity piece than musical adventure; it's no "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," and that's the flaw with this unique album. Had there been a song to hold onto or had "Satanic Mass" possessed the musical individuality of the Seeds' "Up in My Room," this disc would be more than just a novelty. "Choke, Thirst, Die," which ends side one, is actually one of the best performances on the record, though it also suffers from its excesses, with Jinx Dawson acting like a satanic Ruby Starr when she should have gone in the Wendy O. Williams direction. A decent enough attempt, but the group Black Sabbath emerged one year later doing it much, much better.
Band Members:
Jim Donlinger - Vocals
Jinx Dawson - Vocals
Mike "Oz" Osbourne - Bass guitar
Steve Ross - Drums
Alan Estes - Bass
John Hobbs - Keyboards
Christopher Nielsen - Guitar, vocals
Frank Smith - Keyboards
Jim Nyeholt - Keyboards

The Big, Red Carpet
Well, the Blog is up. Very soon, I shall have a section for you to post in your requests, and a section to download the Music that I have provided. The files will be in a .Torrent format which can be opened in a P2P client such as Azureus or Bittorrent.
To Download music, you just have to download the corresponding torrent file, and afterwards, open it on your P2P client. The speed of the download will depend on the number of users sharing that torrent: the more users share the torrent, the faster the speed.
One word of advice though: The purpose of file-sharing is to SHARE. If you download Music, but don't share it, you've defeated the purpose. So please, when your download is done, don't remove the torrent- share it till your share ratio atleast reaches 1.25. That is, you've shared 25% more than you've downloaded.
For those, who are new to P2P file sharing, here's some basic terminology:
Torrent: A file which simply tells the P2P client the location of the Source File to be downloaded.
Seed(er)s: People who have the entire file, and are sharing it with others
Peers: People who are downloading the File
Leechers: People who download a file but don't share it.
P2P Client: An application which allows people connected to the internet to share files.
That's about all for now. Check the links to find relevant sites for Clients and Hosts.
